Enjoy water sports such as deep sea fishing, scuba diving, surfing, boat excursions etc. or just relax under the African sun at theequator. City or camp, mountainous terrainor sandy beach - Kenya enchants in every aspect.
Kenyas a politically stable country that achieved independency and democracy in 1964
Because Kenya's democracy is exemple for other African nations, western countries and democracies support it. Due to globalization this support is on the increase. With the outcome of the last elections the country'sdemocracy has stabilized. The government's first priority is to reduce unemployment. For this reason the government welcomes investors and gives them fullsupport.
The climate is ideal and is suited for Europeans
The ocean air contains iodine and minerals, and the trade winds blow constantly. These climatic conditions combined with good nutrition promote good health.
Kenya respects the right for religious freedom
There are about 220 known churches and religious communities; their numbers are on the increase. About 70% of all Kenyans are Christians; about 20% have indigenous beliefs. Today the Catholic Church is the largest Christian Church followed by the Anglican Church and the Presbyterians. The number of Christian denominations is also on the increase. Kenya has a long tradition of religious tolerance. The Ufungamano Initiative is an assembly of Catholics, the NCCK, the SUPKEM andthe Hindu Council of Kenya (HCK) all working together for a constitutional reform. Islam plays a very small role and only in the last few years.
Kenyans are friendly and open-minded people
who openly welcome guests from all over the world. Respect for the different culture demands kind and polite behavior of us visitors. Arrogant behavior is definitely out of place even though white people have money to spend. Unfortunately, addressing someone as "boy" who dates back to when Kenya was a colony is still in use today and is highly insulting to our hosts. A Kenyan man should be addressed "Bwana", and a Kenyan woman "Mama" or "Madam". Older people in particular are treated with utmost respect.
Kiswahili is spoken throughout Kenya and not a difficult language to learn. The following few expression might be useful to remember.
